Our Commitment

As committed stewards of the land, the Jesse family has been sustainably farming for three generations. What started as a 27-acre family run farm consisting of just strawberries and blackberries, has grown to over 2000 acres and a diverse mix of crops. This success has come from a true commitment to quality products, experienced leadership, and a passion for agricultural practices that focus on the triple bottom-line.

Our Farm Today

Currently the farm is focusing its efforts on blueberries, black raspberries, wheat, clover, corn, and grass seed. In 2009, Jesse Estate Vineyards was established when the first of our Pinot Noir was planted. Since then, there have been 4 more vineyards sites planted, taking advantage of the pristine growing conditions for varieties like Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc we have here in the Willamette Valley.

Although the agriculture industry is always changing, Forest Hills Farms is dedicated to staying true to its commitment to the environment, its employees, and to growing high quality products for individuals around the world to enjoy.

Our Story

What is now known as Forest Hills Farms, Inc. was established in 1955 by Don and Jean Jesse, parents of our current president, Alan Jesse. Alan started working on the farm at a young age picking berries, by age 12 he was moving irrigation pipe and driving tractor. After attending Oregon State University Alan returned to the family farm where he helped with its’ incorporation in 1978. By this point the farm had expanded to 600 acres and production included beans, corn, wheat, strawberries, and blackberries. Don and Alan co-managed the farm through 1996 when Alan took over as sole president. With the help of his wife Mary managing the finances, as well as a team of hard-working, talented employees, the farm has grown to 2000 acres and continues to grow in diversity. The farm has been GlobalG.A.P. certified since 2014—just one of the many ways its’ stayed true its commitment to environmental stewardship and production of quality products. The tradition of family continues today with Alan as the CEO, Mary managing finances, their daughter Anna in the role of Vice President, and their daughter Katharine helping with everything from running the combine to general bookkeeping whenever she has time away from her job as Financial Analyst.
